Dr. Ali Al Balushi is a country-renowned vascular and interventional neurologist. He leads Oman Aster neurology and stroke services. He obtained his MD degree from Sultan Qaboos University and completed residency training in Neurology in the United States of America and obtained fellowship training in Stroke Neurology and another fellowship in Neurointerventional Surgery from New York. He is the first Omani doctor who is fellowship-trained and board-certified in stroke neurology.
His training background is unique as he is the only neurologist in Oman with clinical fellowship training in Neurointervention. He provides clinical services in emergency evaluation and treatment of acute stroke including IV thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy, services approved by the Ministry of Health, and currently offered in the private sector in Oman only at Aster Royal Hospital.
Dr. Al Balushi also provides clinical services for other neurologic emergencies like seizures, headaches, and central nervous system infections. He provides tele-stroke consultation and runs inpatient stroke services and outpatient general and stroke neurology services.
Dr. Al Balushi is a founding member of the Oman Neurology Society. He is a member of various professional societies like the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Society of Vascular & Interventional Neurology, and Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He has published extensively in the field of Stroke Neurology and Neurointervention and is a reviewer for an elite group of journals in the field of Stroke and Neurointervention.
