Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Macki

“Khalil Ibrahim Macki is a Head and Neck Surgeon from the Sultanate of Oman . His background is Otolaryngology (ENT) . Dr. Macki graduated from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) of Oman , completed his surgical residency at the prestigious McGill University, Montreal -Canada . He completed his higher H&N surgical training and fellowship at the National University of Singapore (NUS) . NUS is a highly ranked university in Asia and worldwide. His higher surgical training focused on minimally invasive Head & Neck surgeries , rebootic and endoscopic approaches to tumors of the H&N.
Khalil is chairing the Otolaryngology department at the Armed Forces Hospital (AFH) in Oman. He is an active member of different boards of the Royal Army of Oman . Academically iys a member of education committee of the Oman Medical Speciality Board (OMSB), the body for the post-graduate Medical education in Oman . He is very much involved in research in the field of H&N , Otology and Cochlear implantation. He innovative work and practice in the field of Cochlear implantation added to the standard of practice and led to change of the common practice. Dr. Macki successfully Cochlear implanted a 4 months old baby with congenital deafness , been the youngest non meningitis child to receive a implantation in the Middle East . He was the first surgeon to preform simultaneous Cochlear implantation and middle ear implantation using carina system worldwide.
Dr.Macki is heavily involved in research especially in the H&N malignant tumors . He is involved in few ongoing researches e.g identification of serum bio-marker of SCC of the H&N and another project to correlate the tumor volume with survival rate considering different modalities of tumor management.
